So you want to know what I did today?
I did, what a lot of you do – the things centered around being a good parent – like getting the kids off to school and buying groceries.
I love my kids – and today they are off to the coast on a field trip to one of Israel's largest archeological sites – Caesarea.
When you think of Caesarea you may think of the Romans – or the trading and military ships in the magnificent man made harbor there. But did you know that it was the center of Christian thought and theological training in the Fourth Century? Early Church Fathers such as Basil the Great studied and taught there.
One may say Basil and others harvested 'Foods for the Soul' as they helped to give shape to a community of believers adjusting to the teachings of written scripture and influences of oral history in the presence of political realities. He is primarily remembered in Caesarea for combating heresies, his work amongst the poor, and his teaching.
So what about the shopping you ask? Well I headed out to the large open air market and bought up the weeks worth of fruits and veggies. It is one of the things I enjoy about living here – No supermarket refrigerated trucks! It's all fresh here…
My kids won't be pleased that the bananas are gone – but they'll be happy that the watermelons and green grapes are here.
But whether it's a fresh fruit or stones by the sea – you can experience it all on a LeSEA Tour to the Holy Land. I think there's still time to get you into Junes' trip! Go to www.leseatours.com to find out.
Hope to see you soon!
