There is more news on the continuing story regarding the so-called Prisoner X – Ben Zygier.
Mr. Zygler is largely thought to have been about to disclose information to Australian Inteligence on Mossad details before he was apprehended back in 2010.
Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented for the first time on the affair earlier this week. He defended the retaining of information from the public.
He justified this by saying that Israel is not like other countries, citing that it is threatened more.
He said, let the security forces do their work.
Then, Israel confirmed that an individual they detained was reported to have had links to the Israeli spy agency Mossad, and that he hanged himself.
Just a few hours ago, a Judge lifted a gag order on details of a person found on the 15th of December, 2010, hanging in the shower of his purportedly suicide proof detention cell. The person used a sheet that had been tied to the bars of the bathroom window of his cell.
This detainee is known as Prisoner X because his identity and reasons for imprisonment are unknown.
Until just an hour ago, Israel had not confirmed he was Ben Zygier, but it is widely reported that he was the Prisoner X.
The judge's report said “I have found evidence allegedly suggesting the fault of elements in the Israel Prison Service”.
After the release of this information Mr. Netanyahu's office released a further statement tonight saying that pursuant to many reports, the late Mr. Zygier had no contact with the Australian security agencies.
