Today is a beautiful clear spring day – but so far this morning the roar of jet fighters high above has been present.
I went to the news services and see that Syria has apparently increased it's troop presence along it's border with Israel. This makes headline news here. It has caused the Defense Minister Ehud Barak to cancel his planned trip to Germany.
Action/Reaction – I suppose it is the same anywhere in the world, but perhaps here in the Middle East such things may have greater ramifications worldwide. But I think the larger picture is that Israel is sending an audible message to all the parties involved, including Hezbollah, who's tactical leader was killed not to long ago. Israel is expecting retaliation – and with that will come another strike.
This constant roar above also sends a message to the citizens down below that their government is looking out for them.
Continuing to hear the buzz in the sky, I asked myself that same question Jerusalem's first Jewish King asked… David asked, “From where does my help come from? It comes from the Lord”.
I imagined what the sound of that oversight from the Almighty might be – and since I have been hearing the springtime song of the birds in my courtyard, I cannot help but think of the wings of the seraphim and cherubim in God's presence. Though not heard – the reality is that angles stand guard over me in this special place.
Danger is all over. I appreciate those who serve the State to provide protection for it's citizens.
And evil is everywhere. It manifests itself all over in different ways including worry, fear, and paranoia. I am thankful that my citizenship is in Heaven, and until that day when I find myself in the New Jerusalem, I know that the silent swoosh of angelic wing will watch over me.
This means I can go out and enjoy this beautiful day – I am covered – and need not worry about tomorrow.
